Everything You Need To Know

How much does gutter guard installation cost?

Most Australian homes range between $1,400 and $3,500 fully installed depending on your roof size, type, and access. Small single storey homes typically range from $1,400 to $1,900. Average sized homes range from $1,900 to $2,900. Larger or double storey properties range from $2,900 to $3,500 and above. We provide a fully transparent itemised quote before any work begins with no hidden fees and no surprises. Get your free remote quote and we will respond within 2 hours.

How soon can you provide a quote and start the work?

We can typically provide a remote quote within 24 hours. Once approved, installations are generally scheduled within 1 to 2 weeks, depending on your location and seasonal demand.

Do you clean my gutters before installing?

es. Every installation includes a complimentary full gutter and downpipe clean before the mesh goes on. This ensures the system performs correctly from day one, and starts completely clear. There is no extra charge for this service.

What is the difference between 2mm and 4mm mesh?

4mm aluminium mesh is our most popular option and is suitable for most Australian homes. It keeps out leaves from common trees including eucalyptus and gum trees, as well as pests, rodents, birds, and fire embers. 2mm aluminium mesh is recommended for properties surrounded by fine leaf trees such as pine, wattle, and jacaranda as these smaller leaves can pass through the 4mm holes. Steel mesh in either size is recommended for properties with possum activity as it is strong enough to resist bending or tearing under weight. We assess your specific situation during the remote quote and recommend the right mesh for your property.

Which mesh type is right for me?

We use both steel and aluminium mesh in 2mm and 4mm sizes. Steel mesh is recommended if you have possums accessing your roof. 4mm aluminium mesh keeps out leaves from most common Australian trees including eucalyptus and gum trees, as well as pests, rodents, birds, and fire embers. 2mm aluminium is recommended for properties with fine leaf trees such as pine, wattle, and jacaranda as these can pass through the 4mm holes. We assess your property during the remote quote and recommend the right mesh for your specific situation.

How long does the installation process usually take?

Most standard residential installations are completed within a single day. Larger properties or complex rooflines may take up to two days, but we always ensure the site is left clean and secure at the end of each day.

Can you install gutter guards on existing gutters?

Yes, our systems are custom-fitted to work with almost any existing gutter and roof type, including corrugated iron, tile, and trimdek roofs.

Do you provide custom color matching for my roof?

Yes, our aluminium trims and mesh are available in the full Colorbond® color range. We color-match the components to your roof and gutters so the system blends in seamlessly.

Do you offer a warranty on your products and workmanship?

Yes, we stand behind our work with a comprehensive 15-year product warranty against rusting or peeling, alongside a 10-year workmanship guarantee on the installation itself.

Will the installation damage my roof or void my warranty?

Not at all. Our installation process is fully compliant with roofing standards and is designed to integrate seamlessly with your existing roof structure without piercing critical areas or voiding your manufacturer's warranty.

Are your gutter guards suitable for bushfire-prone areas?

Yes. Our premium mesh options have a CSIRO flammability index rating of 0, meaning they will not catch fire. They are specifically designed to meet Australian standards for bushfire attack levels (BAL), preventing ember buildup in your gutters.

What are the main benefits of installing gutter guards?

Gutter guards keep leaves, twigs, and debris out of your gutters, ensuring water flows freely. This prevents water damage to your roof and foundation, reduces the risk of pest infestations, and significantly cuts down on the dangerous chore of climbing a ladder to clean your gutters manually.

Do gutter guards completely eliminate the need for cleaning?

While they significantly reduce the need for maintenance, no system is 100% maintenance-free. We recommend a quick visual inspection and a light hose-down once a year to ensure small debris like roof grit hasn't accumulated on the mesh surface.

What materials do you use for the gutter guards?

We use premium, powder-coated aluminium and high-grade stainless steel mesh. These materials are chosen specifically for their durability, rust resistance, and ability to withstand the harsh Australian climate.

How do the guards perform during heavy Australian rainstorms?

Our mesh is engineered with an optimal hole size that breaks the surface tension of water, allowing heavy torrential rain to flow straight through into the gutter while leaves and debris simply wash or blow off the top.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Gutter Guard Australia is fully licensed and insured. All our installers are covered by $20 million public liability insurance and operate under Safe Work Method Statements for all rooftop work. Certificates are available on request.

Can gutter guards prevent birds and pests from nesting?

Absolutely. By completely enclosing the gutter system, our guards eliminate the entry points that birds, possums, rats, and snakes typically use to nest in your roof cavity.

How much do gutter guards typically cost?

Cost varies based on the linear meterage of your gutters, the pitch of your roof, and the type of mesh required for your location (e.g., bushfire zones). We provide a free, no-obligation quote tailored precisely to your property.

What happens to the leaves that fall on the guards?

Our system is designed to create a 'ski-slope' effect. The majority of leaves will dry out and blow away with the wind. Any stubborn debris can be easily brushed or hosed off from ground level.

Will the mesh rust or degrade over time?

No. We exclusively use non-combustible, marine-grade stainless steel and powder-coated aluminium. These materials will not rust, warp, or degrade under the intense Australian sun.

Are gutter guards a long term investment?

Yes. Once installed, gutter guards offer lasting protection with minimal upkeep. They eliminate the need for frequent cleaning, prevent costly water damage issues, and are essentially a set and forget system backed by our 15-year product and workmanship warranty.

Are your gutter guards weather resistant?

Yes. Our guards are made from premium aluminium and steel engineered to withstand Australia's toughest conditions including coastal salt air, intense UV, heavy storms, and bushfire ember attack. Unlike plastic or flyscreen type mesh found in hardware stores, our professional grade mesh will not degrade or break down in the sun over time.

How do you measure my roof remotely?

We use professional satellite imagery software with a built-in measuring tool to remotely measure your roof and assess your gutter layout — no site visit needed.

To get an even faster and more accurate quote, simply include a few photos or a short video of your roof, gutters, and downpipes when you submit your form. The more we can see upfront, the quicker we can turn around your quote. Most quotes are ready within 2 hours.

Do you install on double storey homes?

Yes. We install on both single and double storey homes across all our service areas. Double storey properties may require additional safety equipment and may take slightly longer to complete. This is factored into your written quote upfront with no hidden charges.

What happens after I submit my quote request?

Once you submit your form or call us we respond within 2 hours on business days. We use satellite imagery to remotely measure your roof and assess your situation. We then send you a fully itemised written quote with mesh type recommendation, colour matching options, and installation timeframe.
